2020 documentary about Tito's diplomatic yacht Galeb, political memory, and the legacy of the Non-Aligned Movement.
Galeb (Seagull) is a 2020 documentary directed by Ivan Živković Žika that tells the extraordinary story of Tito's famous diplomatic yacht Galeb. The ship carried Yugoslav President Josip Broz Tito on 14 historic voyages across three continents, hosting world leaders and playing a key role in shaping the Non-Aligned Movement. Through rich archival material, interviews and symbolic objects, the film explores political memory, the ship's turbulent post-Yugoslav fate, and its rebirth as a museum vessel in Rijeka.
I served as sound recordist, capturing clear dialogue, authentic environmental sounds of the ship and sea, and subtle atmospheric layers to support the historical and emotional weight of the narrative.
Sound approach: Naturalistic and restrained sound design - prioritizing intelligibility, spatial depth and minimal intervention so that the historical voices, sea elements and meaningful silence carry the story.
